Behind the Blend: Venus
“Veiled in beauty, reaching beneath the surface…”
The Venus blend was my very first planet-inspired loose leaf tea. When creating this blend, I wanted to capture the true essence of the planet, and all the things it represents: love, beauty, and harmony.
Venus is the brightest planet in our night sky, and I wanted this tea blend to be just as visually vibrant. There’s something about steeping a blend like this that truly brings out a quietness within oneself, and I am so excited to be able to share this beautiful experience with you all!
Venus is covered in thick, white clouds, so I wanted to have something just as seemingly delicate as a base. White peony tea was an instant choice as it’s a bit cloud-like to me. The taste is mild, yet its floral and fruity notes pop beautifully when paired with the right ingredients. And unlike the clouds on Venus, white tea is not acidic, so it’s a win for all of us.
The planet Venus is also named after the roman goddess of love and beauty, and roses so happen to be the flower that represents her, so I couldn’t pass up on the symbolism! Adding rose as the second ingredient also helps bring out the floral notes of the white tea, and give the tea itself a more aromatic smell.
Finally, I added hibiscus to top it all off. According to NASA, Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system, hitting up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit (475 Celsius). That’s pretty hot! I chose hibiscus to add a bolder taste into the mix, as well as get the vibrant pink color we all know and love.
Drinking this tea is meant to be more than just a beverage, it’s an experience. Take a moment for yourself, breathe in the floral aroma, and let the gentle warmth of the cup remind you to slow down, appreciate the present, and connect with the beauty in your surroundings. Whether you’re enjoying it alone or sharing it with someone special, the Venus blend is a small way to invite love and harmony into your daily life.
